THIS IS A SHAIKENS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Earlier this morning, I was catching up on Morgetron’s blog and I saw that you can now be SCORED on WALKING!
Type in your address, and they give you a score on walkability. The results are pretty dang accurate. This would be GREAT for someone looking for a new place to live in an unfamiliar area.
My Athens Address: 75/100 “very walkable”
My Mom’s House: 3/100 “car dependent”
My OLD PHILADELPHIA ADDRESS: 97/100 “walker’s paradise”
Now do you know why I loved living there so much?

The Walk Score website has more information on the 2009 Transportation Bill. Congress is preparing to write it, which is the perfect time to voice your opinions. You can e-sign the petition that Walk Score has going to Congress here.
If you have ever lived in a “car-dependent” area, then you know how much we need this! Take a few minutes out of your day to help improve our chances of getting better transportation options!
Transportation For America also has some great information on this topic.
What do you guys think? Is this a big issue where you live? Does it affect you?
Better accessibility to public transit/walking would not only help with spending, oil, the environment, but wouldn’t it also help get our butts in better shape?!

Speaking of disappearing comments, ALL of the comments on the “coconut channel” have been removed !
With the exception of one,which is “under review”.
Or “awaiting reviewment”,
Or something.
