“Awesome Eric” Blogs Idol Finale

Sorry to keep recycling the same old photo… Eric, we need to take new ones!  Next year, at the ‘XPN Beggar’s Banquet?

Back on topic:  Eric Bazilian of “Hooters” fame, watched tonight’s American Idol finale and has a couple things to say about it.  As a news anchor, I love how he throws in the Presidential primaries in Oregon and Kentucky into the mix, that is yet another reason why he remains very, very awesome.

Here is what he has to say, as we head into tomorrow night’s “Results” show.  Ladies and gentlemen, Eric Bazilian.  (and I love how at the end he says, “But what do I know?” Umm, as a rock star for the last couple decades, probably a lot…”

—————————————-

Eric:  “One song through the DVR of tonight’s Idol.  Man, I’m glad this isn’t
the Presidential election.  I certainly relate to David C., the
guitar rock guy with the big rock voice.  Then David A. gets up to do
arguably my least favorite Elton John song and brings down the
house.  Now Rock guy is singing “Dream Big”, nice melodic anthem and
so apropos.  Thing is, the song is pretty generic, a Disney kind of
Up With People.  Unfortunately, as dynamic as his reading of the song
was, it was equally Rock Generic.  Not that there’s anything
inherently wrong with that, but…

(how I love the DVR)

David A.’s milking another ballad for all it’s worth.  So
earnest….. I see this round going to the kid. Simon agrees, it
seems.  Even the most hardened cynic can’t help but like 2008 Idol’s
Bambi.

Speaking of 2008… am I the only one who noticed that Randy called
tonight the “battle for 2007″?

Oboy… David C.’s doing Collective Soul’s “World That I Know”.  Good
song but an Idol championship?  I’m nervous.  First verse… yeah,
I’m very nervous for Rock Guy.  I think most of the audience is
unfamiliar with the song and it’s not the most immediately engaging
of anthems.  Still haven’t gotten to the chorus.  Oh, we have?  Yeah,
Dave’s lost Kentucky and it looks like Oregon’s going down too.  He’s
in tears.  I don’t know if it’s because he’s moved by the song or
because he feels the slipperiness of his slope.  Paula’s giving him a
standing ovation.  Even scarier.  Simon’s calling it “completely and
utterly the wrong song choice for you on the night”, as much as he
genuinely thinks the world of David.

It seems as though Bambi’s going to do “Imagine” again.  This time he
gets to do the first verse as well.  Wow, he’s not!  He’s gone right
to the second like he did first time out.  This is a tough move… he
doesn’t have the element of surprise he had last time.  He’s losing
points with me on this.  Clive and Andrew Lloyd and the Boxing Guy
all said that winning this championship is about daring that extra
something.  This is an extra nothing.  I’m actually shocked that they
let him do it again.

Well, I guess I’m alone in this… Simon just said “both contestants
came out to win and what he have witnessed tonight is a knockout”.

Then again, watching the recap, he may be right.

Then yet again, I still like Jason better than any of them.

Then finally again, what do I know?”

I also heard Randy say 2007 and thought oh, it’s not Paula screwing up tonight! Funny

Eric B,

I also caught that 2007 and was hoping Paula would shove it in his “what up dog” face. He is almost as useless as Paula.

Here is what is going to happen. The teeny boppers are all going to vote for small David, thus making big David end up in second place, though I believe he should win. Now we all know it doesn’t really matter who wins because they are both great and bound to have success in the future. Look at Daughtry
