Hi! My name is Kerri-Lee Halkett, an anchor at Philadelphia's FOX 29. When the station asked me to do a daily blog, and run my own website, I stopped in my tracks-- sure, but how? I went to "Geek School" as my web department called it, and learned fast, and guess what? It's a lot of fun! I've met bloggers from all over, and many even contribute to the site-- like Johnny Goodtimes, and HOTT Nanny. Other bloggers stop by and leave their mark in the comments section, why not become one yourself? Come by often, the site is always open and changing... check it out!-- Kerri-Lee Halkett

My report on the 10pm tonight focuses on the Missouri mom, Lori Drew,  loridrew.jpg indicted for allegedly pretending to be a teenaged boy who was romancing a teenage girl, Megan Meier, through her MySpace page.  When the fake “boy” broke up with Megan, she killed herself less than an hour later by hanging herself in her bedroom.  Beyond tragic.

I mean, come on.  Aren’t we supposed to be examples to our children, and show them this hurtful (in this case fatal) school yard bully behavior isn’t going to cut it.  What mother would THINK of doing this herself?  Anyway, we’re going to focus on this tonight, you can read the latest by clicking here now.

  1. No one is going to deny the fact that Lori Drew is the scum of the earth and should be behind bars but… she can’t be charged criminally for doing what she did. To be charged criminally she needed to break a law. The indictment is a result of the public outcry and the charges are a stretch. I would be very surprised if Ms. Drew is ultimately found guilty.

  2. You sound like an attorney, Nova, thanks for the legal insight. It’s a tough case illustrating once again, that the law is still behind techology

  3. That is such a disturbing story. The world is crazy isn’t it.

  4. MySpace, Facebook…..

Why do we need these to begin with? I will never use them.

How many years have people been warned about chat rooms, etc?

Kids (teens) try so hard to fit in, feel wanted, be popular…
When that doesn’t happen, they may feel insignificant, left-out, “things can’t get any better”….

    I wish I knew then what I know now………

Teen relationships are not the end-all….
You MAY still be in contact with 2 or 3 fellow students after 5 years of graduating H.S….
Not much more than that (on average)…
People move on, THEY GROW UP.

    Don’t make hasty decisions…
    Sleep on it..
    Tomorrow is another day……

    Trust me, I’ve been there….

You never know what tomorrow brings…

  5. Oh, trust me, I need facebook. It’s the only way I keep in touch with people. Which may or may not be a good thing.

  6. Just use email! Or text…….. :)
Or pick up the phone some time!
    Have a great weekend..
I KNOW tomorrow will be so much nicer than today was!

  7. No, see, there are people who you don’t want to lose touch with, but you don’t talk to you on the phone. Ya know?

  8. Anyway, teens shouldn’t be allowed on that stuff anyway. They use it to meet people, which is not a good thing. Sure, for someone older who is smarter and can make better decisions. But not for 13 year olds.
