About the Author
Hi! My name is Kerri-Lee Halkett, an anchor at Philadelphia's FOX 29. When the station asked me to do a daily blog, and run my own website, I stopped in my tracks-- sure, but how? I went to "Geek School" as my web department called it, and learned fast, and guess what? It's a lot of fun! I've met bloggers from all over, and many even contribute to the site-- like Johnny Goodtimes, and HOTT Nanny. Other bloggers stop by and leave their mark in the comments section, why not become one yourself? Come by often, the site is always open and changing... check it out!-- Kerri-Lee Halkett

This is from Greta’s Blog– it reminds me of advice I got early in my career from a news anchor in Phoenix (Troy Hayden, from FOX 10) Once you are in the studio, no curse words, period. You just never know….

Every anchor’s nightmare..sooner or later each will make a big mistake:
Sue Simmons NBC 4 - NYC made a mistake…her is this: she dropped the “f-bomb!”…OOPS…
Do me a favor….I don’t know her and have never met her…but cut her some slack….no one died..it was a mistake….she apologized.

Refraining from cursing on air is the reason I wouldn’t make it on TV.
Uhh, well, one of the reasons.

hahaha, WOW, that is… incredible! She must be so embarrassed…

Oh, and DMac, Let’s be honest… with those dreamy eyes, you would have a huge on-air TV fanbase. Yeah, C’mon!

Wow I would hate to be on the camera crew in that studio…Hey she is human and that is why erasers are on pencils!!!

Love our Ohio bloggers! Thanks for commenting Chuck, and I’m with ya, we all make mistakes. As a news anchor though, I wouldn’t recommend shouting curses at the crew.

here’s the trick…
learn to curse in another language…
that way, if one slips, it likely won’t get caught…
but you’ll still have the “feel-good” from blowing off the steam…
so, KL…how do you say the “F” word in French anyway?

I lived in NJ and watched Channel 4 news for years (on and off). I think Sue Simmons has been with News 4 for over 25 years. It’s been 20 since I moved from NJ and she was definitely on before I left. She seems like a nice lady and it would be a shame for her to lose her job over this. People make mistakes; let it go…there’s a lot more important things to worry about.
